mountain at a height of 2800 feet. This trek starts from a village called
Vaishakhare, a little further from Murbad. Naneghat is located in Junnar taluka
of Pune. The name Naneghat means "Nane" meaning coin and "ghat"
means pass. There was a toll booth where toll was collected from traders
crossing the hill. The inscriptions in the caves show that the Mauryan Empire
and the Satavahana dynasty ruled.
It is learned that this was the main road leading to Junnar
by the Satavahanas. This was the main route connecting Kalyan and Sopara during
their tenure. Like Naneghat, Malshej Ghat and Bor Ghat were also important
roads links for commuting coast to the Junnar plateau. They were then destroyed
by outside rulers and ignored.
At the beginning of Naneghat trekking you have to walk a bit and
then the actual climb starts. The Naneghat trek is of medium quality and very
easy. Going to the top, you see some beautiful and mind-blowing natural beauty.
It takes minimum 1.30 to 2 hours to complete this trek. We can do this trek
anytime of the year. When you go to the top, you also get to see a Konkankada.
In the rainy season, you can also see the reverse waterfall. You can also see
some caves before the ghat starts. If you are going to trek at night, you can
stay there.
How to complete Naneghat Trekking Mumbai or Pune.
1. To reach Naneghat you have to take a bus from
Kalyan station, there is a bus depot 2 minutes away from Kalyan station (West).
2. Anyone from counter staff can guide you about
bus to naneghat, just follow that, keep one thing in mind that there is no dedicated
stop for naneghat, you have to coordinate with bus conductor.
3. Follow the same route to for return journey, you
will get any private transport to return to kalyan station in bare minimum
charges.
